This class is designed for young people between the ages of 5-12. It is our general fitness class with no specific sport training included. Our goal is to provide a fun, positive and safe environment for kids while giving them a great exercise and physical fitness program. Workouts are tailored as needed so that each child can participate.
Physical activity is very important in kids’ lives today. Childhood obesity is at its highest rates with no signs of slowing down. Obesity leads to higher risks of chronic illnesses such as, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, and other health conditions. But it doesn’t have to be that way! A healthy, active lifestyle is important for everyone, especially children. Learning the discipline and joy of regularly exercising and eating healthy has lifelong physical and mental benefits.
Studies show that exercise helps kids do better at school because exercise helps to develop increased concentration and focus which they can then transfer into their school studies. And, if your kids play organized sports, our MJEP “KIDS CAN” program will help by giving them the skills, aerobic capacity, and endurance they need to succeed in the sports they participate in.
In addition to the physical fitness component, each “KIDS CAN” program will feature an interactive 5-10 minute life skills session that focuses on various important life skills that every young person needs to learn, including:

Stand for something …or you’ll fall for anything!
Seek out good, sound advice when making decisions in one’s life
Communication skills – learning to use it for your advantage

Highlights of our “KIDS CAN” Classes
Classes will begin with a warm-up and stretching and then move on to various group exercises, partner work and other fun fitness activities which will help kids increase their speed, power, agility, balance, coordination and mental strength.
